नागपूर - देशोन्नती या दैनिकाच्या गोंडखैरी येथील प्रिटिंग प्रेसमध्ये सुरू असलेल्या कामगारांच्या आंदोलनाला आज शनिवारी सायंकाळी हिंसक वळण लागले. देशोन्नतीचे एडिटर इन चीफ प्रकाश पोहरे आणि त्यांच्यासोबतच्या सुरक्षा रक्षकाबरोबर आंदोलकांची बाचाबाची झाली. यावेळी पोहरे यांच्या सुरक्षा रक्षकाने आंदोलनकर्त्या सुरक्षा रक्षकावर १२ बोअरच्या बंदुकीतून गोळी झाडली. परिणामी गंभीर जखमी झालेल्या या सुरक्षा रक्षकाचा मृत्यू झाला.
या घटनेमुळे गोंडखैरी पिंट्रिंग प्रेसमध्ये प्रचंड तणावाचे वातावरण निर्माण झाले आहे. दरम्यान, रात्री उशिरा कळमेश्‍वर पोलिसांनी प्रकाश पोहरे आणि त्यांच्या पाच साथीदारांविरूद्ध खून आणि गैरकायद्याची मंडळी जमविल्याच्या आरोपाखाली गुन्हा दाखल केला. यात दुपारे यांच्यावर गोळी झाडणारा आरोपी द्विवेदी आणि अन्य चार सुरक्षा रक्षकांचा समावेश असल्याचे पोलिसांनी सांगितले.
पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, अमरावती मार्गावरील गोंडखैरी येथील पिंट्रिंग प्रेस परिसरात देशोन्नती या दैनिकातील कामगार संघटनेने गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून विविध मागण्यांसाठी आंदोलन सुरू केले आहे.
आज येथे पोहरे येणार असल्याचे आणि ते नवीन सुरक्षा रक्षकांची नेमणूक करणार असल्याचे आंदोलकांना कळले होते. त्यामुळे आंदोलकही सतर्क झाले. या पार्श्‍वभूमीवर, आज सायंकाळी ५ च्या सुमारास देशोन्नतीचे एडिटर इन चीफ प्रकाश पोहरे आणि त्यांचे बंदूकधारी सुरक्षा रक्षक आंदोलनस्थळी पोहोचले.
दगडफेकीनंतर सुरक्षा रक्षकाने गोळी झाडली

नागपूर - प्रकाश पोहरे यांनी तेथील जुने सुरक्षा रक्षक तसेच सुपरवायझर राजेंद्र कृष्णराव दुपारे (वय ४९) यांच्याशी चर्चा करून नवीन सुरक्षा रक्षकांनी प्रेसचा ताबा घेण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. त्यामुळे आंदोलक चिडले व वातावरण तापले. दोन्हीकडून एकमेकांना बाहेर काढण्याचे प्रयत्न झाल्यामुळे बाचाबाची वाढली आणि संतप्त आंदोलक पुढे सरसावले. प्रकाश पोहरे आणि नवीन सुरक्षा रक्षकांनी प्रेसचा ताबा घेण्याचा प्रयत्न केल्यामुळे आंदोलकांनी पोहरे व त्यांच्या साथीदारावर दगडफेक केली. त्यामुळे सुरक्षा रक्षक हरिप्रसाद रामप्यारे द्विवेदी याने आपल्या १२ बोअरच्या बंदुकीतून गोळी झाडली. ती आंदोलनकर्ते सुरक्षा रक्षक राजेंद्र कृष्णराव दुपारे, रा. वाडी यांना लागली. गंभीर जखमी झालेल्या दुपारेंना तातडीने मेडिकलमध्ये हलविण्यात आले. मात्र, तेथे डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना मृत घोषित केले. दरम्यान, या घटनेनंतर पळून जाण्याच्या प्रयत्नातील आरोपीला संतप्त आंदोलकांनी पकडले आणि बेदम चोप दिला.माहिती कळताच कळमेश्‍वर पोलिसांचा ताफा घटनास्थळी दाखल झाला. घटनेचे गांभीर्य पाहून पोलीस अधीक्षक डॉ. मनोजकुमार शर्मा घटनास्थळी दाखल झाले. तोपर्यंत तेथे प्रचंड तणाव निर्माण झाला.
पोहरे म्हणतात रक्षकाने स्वसंरक्षणार्थ झाडली गोळी
या संदर्भात
देशोन्नतीचे एडिटर इन चीफ प्रकाश पोहरे म्हणाले की, काही कामगार
नेत्यांच्या चिथावणीमुळे कामगारांची सातत्याने दिशाभूल होत आहे. यामुळे
तेथील वातावरण बिघडले आहे. पिंट्रिंग प्रेसमधील कामगार बरोबर काम करीत
नव्हते. करार पाळत नव्हते. वरून मुजोरी करायचे. वेस्टेज वाढत होते. यामुळे
आम्हाला मोठे आर्थिक नुकसान होत होते. हे जे आंदोलन सुरू होते त्याबाबत आपण
पोलिसांना वेळोवेळी कल्पना दिली होती. ९ ऑक्टोबरला कामगारांची सर्व देणी
देऊन टाकली. आज नवीन सिक्युरिटी लावण्यासाठी आपण प्रेसवर गेलो होतो.
त्यावेळी कामगार आतमध्ये दडून बसले होते. ते बाहेर आले व आमच्यावर दगडफेक
सुरू केली. माझ्यासोबत असलेल्या सुरक्षा रक्षकाची बंदूक हिसकण्याचा त्यांनी
प्रयत्न केला. स्वरक्षणार्थ सुरक्षा रक्षकाने गोळी झाडली. दहा
दिवसांपूर्वी असाच काहीसा प्रकार येथे घडला होता. मात्र, आम्ही संयम
पाळल्याने तेव्हा अनर्थ टळला.
नागपूर श्रमिक पत्रकार संघाची मागणी
आज देशोन्नतीच्या प्रिंटिंग प्रेसमध्ये झालेल्या या घटनेचा नागपूर श्रमिक पत्रकार संघाने तीव्र शब्दात निषेधकेला असून प्रकाश पोहरे यांच्यावर खुनाचा गुन्हा दाखल करून त्यांना अटक करण्याची मागणी केली आहे. या प्रकरणाची सीआयडी चौकशी करण्यात यावी आणि मृत राजेंद्र दुपारे यांच्या कुटुंबीयांना १५ लाख रुपयांची मदत देण्यात यावी, अशीही मागणी श्रमिक पत्रकार संघाने केली आहे.

Newspaper editor shoots worker dead in Nagpur

An employee of the Marathi daily Deshonnati, which is a leading
language paper in the region, died after being shot by its
editor-in-chief and owner Prakash Pohare at 5.15pm on Saturday. Rajendra
Dupare, a security guard at the paper’s printing press unit at
Gondkhairi, in the outskirts of the city, and other employees were
having a meeting with Pohare when the gruesome incident took place.
Some
of the employees had suddenly been asked to quit by Pohare. It resulted
in the printing press being shut down since the last month. The paper
was being printed in another press. The
striking employees were trying to work out a deal with Pohare, who had
arrived for the meeting with 5 private security guards, including a
gunman.
A scuffle ensued following which Pohare allegedly shot
Dupare in the stomach. The security guard died after being brought to
the Government Medical College and Hospital in the city.
While
the enraged workers alleged that Pohare snatched the gun and fired at
Dupare, the editor claimed that he was at least 100 feet away when the
incident took place. The police, however, have booked Pohare for murder.
So
far, Kalmeshwar police have arrested gunman Harikrishna Dwivedi who is
believed to have been in an inebriated condition. Pohare, who fled the
scene, is still at large. Outraged by the incident, Deshonnati workers
gathered at GMCH and raised slogans for the immediate arrest of Pohare.
According
to the employees, around 205 people work at the Deshonnati printing
press. Since the last few months, they have been protesting for
non-payment of salaries. On September 7, the workers found the printing
press shutter closed. Fearing loss of jobs, they staged a protest in
front of the printing unit.
On Saturday morning, before staging the protest, the employees even submitted a letter
to the cops claiming that Pohare has “threatened” them for protesting
and would take “harsh action”. “Since he threatened us, we informed the
police,” said one of the workers.
On Saturday evening around
5pm, Kalmeshwar police inspector S Maitre visited the press. Finding
everything to be in order, he left. The firing took place 20 minutes
after Maitre returned to the police station.
“Pohare asked
Dupare to leave as he had been paid his salary. Later, the security
guards too threatened Dupare. We tried to help him and during the tiff
Pohare ordered the gunman to fire, which he did while pointing to the
ground. Pohare then took the weapon and shot Dupare,” said Kamlakar
Belekar, an eyewitness and a colleague of Dupare.
Rural SP Manoj Sharma said that the shot was fired from a 12 bore rifle. “Prima facie
it’s clear that two rounds have been fired. We are investigating
whether the rounds were fired by Dwivedi or Pohare,” he said.
“I
heard the shot being fired and fled from the spot. I immediately
informed Manoj Sharma who asked me to leave the scene immediately,” said
Pohare.
Pohare started Deshonnati in Akola in 1986. The paper
is being published from Nagpur since the last 10 years. Known for taking
up the case of farmer welfare, Pohare also runs a bank (Nishant
Multi-State Cooperative Bank) and a cable network (Nishant Satellite
Communications Network). He was earlier the general secretary of cotton
growers’ association. A couple of years ago, Pohare was alleged to have
abetted the suicide of Deshonnati city reporter Manoj Padmagiri who
claimed harassment from the editor in his personal notes.
